Megváltás, koporsószög - vagy áprilisi tréfa?

A Technics és a Native Instruments cégeknek eddig is meghatározó szerepük volt a DJ-k "munkaeszközeiben".
Most olyan együttműködésük van célegyenesben, mely nagymértékben megváltoztathatja a jelenlegi helyzetet.

Technics Returns To DJing With Multitrack Turntable

The new Technics SL1200MT can play up to six tracks of audio across three stereo channels at once, two more than the new Stems format announced by Native Instruments yesterday... quite something for analogue technology!

Technics is planning a triumphant return to the DJ scene with a new turntable, the 1200MT, that can play up to six tracks of audio at once using a special new record format.

Multitrack Music File Format

Native Instruments has announced a new multi-track file format for DJs and producers, called "Stems". The new, open format allows a track to be released with four "parts" (or "stems") - for instance drums, bassline, harmony and lead - that DJs can then use for advanced mixing using isolated parts of each track.

Stem Decks for DJs: First Look At A New DJ Tool:

Is multitrack vinyl a new dawn for analogue DJing?

Juno, Beatport and Traxsource have all stated that they will be selling music in this format from June this year...
...and anyone can create Stems without paying licensing fees for creation, distribution, or use), it gives producers big and small the chance to release music this way.
Stem files are "backwardly compatible" as they're based on the MP4 format...

Pioneer's DJM-1000 can handle a pair of 1200MTs, and an update is rumoured to work with the new format.

It will offer awesome hands-on remixing potential that will have a tactility we suspect no digital system will be able to match.
Interesting times!

Foster four track
Many years ago, this was how we recorded four-track audio. If only DJ software would adopt already-existing file formats to play music released in four 'stems", we could DJ in a whole new, and better, way.

Felmerül a kérdés:
Do you see multitrack vinyl as being the saviour of the analogue DJing work? Or is this going to be just another nail in vinyl's coffin?
